Rev Gary Baker

My journey with Christ started when I was a young child. However like most people I made many choices in my life that took me around some different turns until in my late twenties when I personally experienced God’s grace which led me into full-time ministry. I believe in the transforming power of the Gospel because I have seen it first hand in my own life journey and I can clearly see the changes that Jesus has bought into my life over these past years.

I started out in ministry with over 20 years life experience in the fields of nursing, community care, counseling and being on management boards of community neighbourhood centres. This background gave me a valuable insight into peoples lives, often at a time when they where at their most vulnerable and this enabled me to focus on learning to listen and really care and share others journeys which became a fundamental foundation for Ministry. Ministry for me is grounded in my philosophy which comes from Luke 4 And Ephesians 4.

My wife, Kim and I have three teenage boys. Together we passionately pursue life, family, ministry, and strengthening our relationship with Jesus Christ. Kim and I believe that relationships are the core of a growing church and make it a personal priority to nurture and develop friendships. We also are committed to the spiritual growth of others and share in home groups and retreat ministries within the church community. I have a heart for the community of Bathurst and have become involved with the local ministers association and a number of denominational committees.

I have strong commitment to reaching those outside the church. I felt called to ministry and to making the message of Christ available to all people in an understandable and relevant way. I enjoy practically meeting needs and demonstrating what Christ has done in my life with the people that I meet. I have a passion for cycling and am involved with the local cycling club. I enjoy good food, the company of friends and a good cup of coffee!
